Mansfield Town appeal against Krystian Pearce red card

Mansfield Town have decided to appeal against central defender Krystian Pearce's red card against Dagenham & Redbridge last weekend.

Always a risk for clubs, who can see bans increased, Stags have gone ahead with it after studying video evidence and being told they have a very good case.

Referee Sebastian Stockbridge dismissed Pearce for a foul on Jamie Cureton near the end of the 3-2 win, but replays show that contact was outside the area and may have been initiated by Cureton anyway.

After the game, Murray said: “Krystian is saying he didn’t touch him. He just went down.

“We feel there is a case there and we are not blessed with numbers in that department.”

Stags will now be on tenterhooks to see what the outcome is ahead of Saturday’s trip to Newport County with Pearce in line for at least a two-game ban.
