Mansfield Town season tickets for the 2020/21 campaign will go on sale from Monday.

Club owner John Radford said the move would help bring in much needed revenue and allow the club to prosper in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement released on the club website Mr Radford also confirmed player wages and essential bills has been paid.

"Since our last home match, 165 days have passed without significant income to our football club,” he said.

“Whilst we have, and always will, endeavour to support the club financially to the best of our capacity, no club owner is a bottomless pit of everlasting funds.

“During this period, our contracted players have received 100 per cent of their wages, and essential bills and other outgoings have also been paid.

"We have also made seven exciting new signings as we look to build a capable squad for the new season, and to ensure that we are as competitive as possible for the new campaign.

“The financial impact on football clubs as a result of the pandemic has received much publicity and we have known for some time that it would be significant. Wherever possible, we have taken steps to mitigate this impact.

“Consequently, to ensure that the club not only survives, but prospers, both in the short and long term, we are releasing season tickets on Monday 03 August for the 2020-21 season."

It is not yet known if fans will be allowed in to matches in a reduced capacity or if games will be played behind closed doors.

It means season tickets will go on sale for existing season ticket holders only.

If games are behind closed doors, 2020/21 season ticket holders will be entitled to a voucher to watch matches via iFollow.

Mr Radford added: “In the past few months, we have been greatly heartened to receive a number of messages from season ticket holders who have told us that they will be declining a pro-rata refund for the matches that were not played last season.

“To those of you who have already made this pledge, our deepest thanks for such incredible selflessness.

“This outstanding act of generosity would significantly aid our club in this challenging period, if replicated by the majority of our fan base.”
