A MANSFIELD church team are looking for further onfield success after completing the league and cup double last season.

Mansfield Association of Fellowship Churches, who were formed in 1994/95, will kick off their new season in the Derby Church League.

Over the seasons Mansfield AFC, who play home games at the Manor Complex, have won their share of league and cup honours, winning the domestic treble in 2003/04.

Manager Norma Hatfield said: “Last season was an historic one for the Club. Not only did we win the domestic double of the league championship and the league cup, we also reached the Final of the National Christian Trophy - the first ever team in the Derby Church League to reach the Final, let alone win it.

“Mansfield AFC played teams from Liverpool, Wakefield, Derby and Norwich - all but one away! - before they played the Final at the Valley, home of championship club Charlton Athletic. A special occasion for the Club, winning the Trophy 5 - 1.”

Currently there is just one division in the Derby Church League
