Managers sing Nightingale's praises as he flies Clipstone coop and returns to Worksop Town

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder played five times for Tigers in the 2011/12 season, scoring on his debut against North Ferriby United.

Chances were limited while Worksop were challenging for promotion for the Evo-Stik Premier, and the former Rotherham United trainee left Tigers, spending time with Swallownest, Staveley and the Cobras.

Clipstone boss James Colliver, who coached Nightingale at Rotherham United, sang the departing youngster’s praises: “I’ve known Alex a long time and I’ve seen him develop into a energetic, technically gifted player

“Alex has an eye for goal and his infectious attitude to get involved will be a really good addition to Worksop Town and we wish him well in what is going to be an exciting few months as they try to achieve promotion.”

Tigers manager Mark Shaw revealed that he had tried to bring Nightingale back to the club last season, and was pleased to finally get his man.

“I thought he played extremely well for Swallownest against us last season, and then for Clipstone at the beginning of this season,” he said.

“I was disappointed not to get him last year, so when he became available we jumped at the chance to get him back at the club.

“He has good ability, he’s technically good and he’s a fit young lad who works hard, and I think he likes the football club.

“That’s what I want to see in players we bring in, people who want to be here and work hard and understand what we’re trying to do.”
