Magpies under-16s secure semi-final berth

Three different players were on target as Notts County Ladies Development under-16s progressed to the semi-finals of the FA Shield with a 3-0 success over Keyworth.A slow, scrappy start as both teams saw both teams struggle to get hold of the ball. The game required a player to take the game by the scuff of the neck and captain Ellie Betteridge did just that as she came on after 30 minutes and injected some belief and desire within the team as chances were created with shots hitting the crossbar and the post. But in the 40th minute, the Magpies found the back of the net as, from a Keyworth goal kick, Leia Ward pressed quickly to win the ball and set up Jade Henderson to the slot the ball past the keeper.Ten minutes into the second period County doubled their lead when Emily George, deep in defence, won the ball and played it square to Jamie Clifford. She played the ball on to Megan Weston in the middle of the park and her beautifully-weighted pass picked out Betteridge who lobbed the keeper for 2-0.Five minutes later the game was wrapped up as Sara Duffield thumped the ball into the back of the net from a well-worked corner. Player of the match was awarded to right-back Clifford, who battled throughout and was composed on the ball to set up a number of County attacks.
