Blidworth Welfare allowed a lead to slip as they were beaten 2-1 at Eastwood Community, the winner coming courtesy of a long-range Chay Bettridge lob.
Eastwood captain Aaron Short was denied in the third minute by debutant keeper Josh Hollis.
Hollis made an impressive double save to keep out headers from Danny Hayes.
Blidworth took the lead early in the seond-half as Josh Brentnall beat the outrushing Jake Pearson to a free-kick before bundling home.
The goal sparked Eastwood who replied with two goals in as many minutes.
Defender Greg Conn knocked in the rebound at a 67th minute corner before Betteridge pounced when Hollis slipped as he went to kick the ball.
It landed into the path of the Eastwiid player who was able to lob the downed keeper from distance.
The sides continued to trade chances but it was the home side who had the best chance of getting another goal as they hit the woodwork in the 88th minute. Substitute Jack Smith was set up for a shot from the edge of the box which Hollis parried. Danny Hayes’ follow up shot from just in front of the line hit the crossbar.
After the game, Blidworth manager Lewis Saxby said: “I don’t feel like we did enough to win that match but at the same time I feel that we more than warranted a draw with our performance.”
