Local grounds stage Groundhop games

On Friday and Saturday the Nottinghamshire Senior League will be holding its third annual Football Bonanza, or Groundhop, as it is commonly called, including matches at Kirkby and Walesby.

There will be one game on Friday evening and four on Saturday as follows:

Friday, 24th April (7.30pm): Ashland Rovers v Newark Flowserve - Kingsway Park, Hodgkinson Road, Kirkby, NG17 7DJ

Saturday, 25th April (10.10am): Bingham Town v Ruddington Village - Butt Field, Bingham, Nottingham. NG13 8GG. (12.50pm): Netherfield Albion v Nottinghamshire - Victoria Park, Teal Close, Netherfield, Nottingham. NG4 2PE (3.20pm): Burton Joyce v Attenborough - The Poplars, Station Road, Burton Joyce, Nottingham. NG14 5AN. (6.15pm): Sandhurst v Kirton Brickworks - Walesby Sports & Social Club, Forest Lane, Walesby, Nottinghamshire. NG22 9PF.

Advanced ticket sales are at record levels, with over 150 sold, including to people from as far away as Sweden, Germany and Holland.

The record attendance for a NSL match was set at last year’s event, where 448 people witnessed West Bridgford defeat Bingham Town 2-1.

In addition to refreshments at each venue there will be programme and badge stalls. A Nottinghamshire Senior League commemorative charity enamel badge will be available.

Founded in 2004, the Nottinghamshire Senior League, or Precision NSL, is a football competition based in England, sitting at level 11 of the English football league system, step 7 of the non-League pyramid, and is a feeder to the Northern Counties East League Division One and the East Midlands Counties League.

The league has a total of three divisions: a Senior Division, Division One and Division Two, comprising 47 teams from the Nottinghamshire area in total.

The league has been sponsored by Precision Training since 2006.
