Lee Tryner vows to push Thoresby Colliery FC up the table

New Thoresby Colliery boss Lee Tryner says he is determined to propel his side to the top end of the table.

Tryner was unveiled as manager of the Central Midlands Football League side for the second time in his career earlier this week.

And, despite Thoresby finishing third bottom of the Black Dragon North division last season, Tryner is confident his team can challenge for honours next season.

Tryner, who managed NCEL side Clipstone during the 2012/13 season, said: “When I was last at the club we were up at the top end of the table, so sitting down the bottom end of the table does not sit easily with me.

“I am ambitious and confident in my abilities and want to see us challenging again at the right end of the table.

“I have got a good backroom staff and feel that we have got the tools to be right up there.

“We need to bring some new players in and it will be a case of using my contacts to make sure we improve the quality of players we have in the team.

“It is clear that we need to improve the quality and that is something I am going to work hard to do.

“I want to create a team that enjoys playing football and wins games, everyone at the club knows why were are here.”

But Tryner, who rejoined the club due to work commitments, knows that even if successful Thoresby will not be eligible for promotion due to their ground not being up to scratch.

“I am just concentrating on on-field matters, the state of the ground and things like that is for others to worry about,” he said.

“Who knows where we might go and what might happen off the field in the future.

“At this moment in time we are a Step 7 club and, for now, our challenge is to get Thoresby at the right end of the table. If we do that then who knows.”
