Leaders Selston fight back to beat Shiners

They had to come from behind for the win after the Shiners had taken a first half lead.

The hosts, somewhat depleted, especially at centre half, struggled to contain the visitors to begin with. The physical stature of Shiners’ Shaun Smith led to the first goal on 25 minutes.

A long ball dropped kindly for the big number nine and he lobbed the stranded Selston keeper, Jake Ball, from almost 30 yards to put his side one to the good.

As is so often the case, Sean Gregory made an impact on the game. Shortly after he was introduced, before the hour-mark, he passed for Elliott Jones to run onto on the edge of the area. Jones still had work to do, though with the attention of two recovering defenders in pursuit. The Selston striker cleverly side stepped them and smashed a strike into the top right hand corner, Meehan had no chance to prevent the leveller.

Selston took the lead when Jamie Renshaw battled for the ball and prodded it to striker Moore who smashed in a shot that Meehan did well to get a hand to but could not stop and the hosts had snatched the win.
