Layton hat-trick fires Selston to another win

A blast of seven goals in the space of 42 minutes, including a hat-trick from Kenan Layton, kept Selston's 100 per cent record going.

The Parishioners couldn’t break the deadlock until three minutes from half-time but still went on to whack West Bridgford 7-0 to stay top of the East Midlands Counties League, Premier Division with eight wins from eight.

Bridgford sit next to bottom but, after seven straight defeats, they had recorded an impressive first win in midweek against Eastwood Community and defended stubbornly for most of the first period.

But then Kane Hempshall slid in to register his first goal for Selston, and the floodgates were soon open.

Winger Layton smashed home his opener four minutes after the break and then colly slotted in his second before turning provider to dance past four defenders and cross for Scott Taylor to tap home.

The man-of-the-match completed his treble on 67 before Ben Moore and Taylor completed the rout.
