The contest was goalless and enveloped by deadlocked until Emley snatched a 76th minute lead when Matthew Jackson gave home goalkeeper Jack Dennison no chance with a fierce drive.

But just as there seemed no way back for Shirebrook and with the game drawing to an end, they snatched an equaliser to force a 1-1 draw. Mitchell Dunne was the instigator, crossing into the box where the ball was bundled over the line by Mark Robinson. The referee blew for time even before Karl Colley’s side and the supporters in the crowd of 104 had ended their celebrations.

Back in the tenth minute, Robinson had also shot against a post, but the rest of the first half was dominated by Emley, with both Tom Brennan and Ashley Flynn going close. Robinson remained a threat for the home side, but they struggled to keep hold of the ball, and the Yorkshire visitors again looked bright in the second period, creating chances for Flynn and Aaron Joseph.

This Saturday, Shirebrook are at home again, this time to tabletopping Penistone Church (kick-off 3 pm).
