Kimberley win again as Eastwood bow out of the cup
Kimberley Miners Welfare moved into the top six of the GEC Hire Fleet United Counties League with a 1-0 win at Skegness Town.
The two sides started the game the other way round in the table with Skegness just above Kimberley.
But after a goalless first half, the match looked to be heading towards a 0-0 draw when Robert Makamu struck with just eight minutes left to make it three wins in five games for Kimberley, who climbed above their hosts into sixth in Premier Division North.
Meanwhile, Eastwood FC saw their FA Cup exploits ended for another season as they lost 2-0 at home to Barton Town in the preliminary round.
The Red Badgers, of the United Counties League, were looking for another knockout success after wins in both the FA Cup and FA Vase in recent weeks.
But Barton, of the Northern Counties East League, proved a step too far as a goal in each half sent them through.
