Mansfield host Stevenage on Saturday as they look for their first win of the campaign.

And Dunne believes the Mansfield players must stay focused and take the positive aspects from the season so far into the weekend.

“In large chunks of games we have done well and been ahead,” he said. “We have been in a situation where if we could defend slightly better we would have more points on the board.

“We have done ok in parts and need to minimise the errors, if we do that we can collate more points.

“From a performance point of view we are pleased with what we have done in chunks.

“There are things we need to improve on in the training ground, but there is a long way to go yet.

“There are well over 100 points to play for at this stage of the season and we have to keep things in perspective.

“There are large chunks where we know we can develop and areas where we can improve on.

“The disappointment comes with not having enough points on the board.”

Dunne is now keen to see some consistency and is confident a win is just around the corner if Mansfield can find their levels.

“We are all working hard and need to just find some consistency,” he said.

“We feel confident about ourselves in terms of the elements of the game and we feel a win is coming.

“We believe if we keep working hard then the results will come.every game brings a different challenge, motivation is key.”

Stevenage currently have four points to their name and are enjoying life in League Two following their close season reprieve from relegation.

“It's a game we want to do well in,” added Dunne. “Both teams will see it as a chance to get a win up and running.

“The decision to reprieve their league status will have given them a boost and Stevenage will want to do well with the new manager.

“We expect a tough game, every game we have played has been tough.”
