Nigel Clough has some massive selection dilemmas. He has a wealth of central defenders and midfielders to choose from and also has risks he must consider taking over half-fit key players. Here is the XI we think he may choose for Saturday. Do you agree?
9. JAMIE MURPHY
So impressive for Clough in his spell at Burton, former Scottish international Murphy has had a frustrating time in his 10 outings at Mansfield so far. He arrived not fully fit and has yet to score, though his effort at Carlisle did clearly cross the line to add to his frustration. But he otherwise had an excellent game and caused numerous problems and, with his pedigree and experience, is likely to keep his shirt to face Crawley. Photo: Chris Holloway
10. RHYS OATES
The big question – will Clough risk Oates with his thigh strain? The Stags boss is desperate to get his top scorer back out on the pitch but knows if the strain turns into a pull or worse he will lose him until next season. But, with only four games to go, if Stags need Oates' goals, then to not risk him could see them even miss out on the play-offs, let alone automatic promotion. Clough, Oates and the medical team will take a view on Saturday morning but I would expect him to give it a go. Photo: Chris Holloway
11. LUCAS AKINS
Like Murphy, Akins is a tried and tested player from a much higher level who has been frustrated and is yet to find his first goal in 15 outings, though some have been off the bench and he has been used at the back too. Akins desperately needs a goal to relieve the pressure but his 100 per cent all-action performances show he has been giving his absolute all for the badge and just one goal could boost his confidence hugely.
