'Impatient' Nigel Clough says Mansfield Town can do 'better than they're showing'

With just one defeat from their past six League Two contests, the Stags boss is relatively happy with his side's form.

But he believes his side are better than their 19th-place league position and the seven points picked up from those six matches suggests.

As his side prepare for an Easter Bank Holiday double this weekend, following on from Saturday's draw at Tranmere Rovers, Clough wants to iron out the mistakes and finish the season on a high.

"It's a bit frustrating and I'm getting a little bit impatient as I think we're better than we're showing in certain circumstances on the pitch," Clough said.

"It's getting frustrating but it's still the same target - let's survive and it's another point towards that.

"I think it's just that one defeat in the last six - that last minute defeat at Crawley which is still irks us as you can tell - it's only that one.

"Even though they're draws, two are against top sides so it's certainly something to build on."

After playing 14 times in less than seven weeks, Clough was ensuring his squad got some much-needed rest at the start of the week.

But attention now turns to two more matches in quick succession – Good Friday’s arrival of top-10 side Leyton Orient (KO 3pm) and Easter Monday’s trek to play-off chasing Exeter City (KO 3pm).

Orient scored twice in the final 10 minutes to force a 2-2 draw with Graham Coughlans’ Stags in the capital back in September, while the Grecians left One Call Stadium with a 2-1 victory seven days later.
