Ill Mansfield Town midfielder Alistair Smith on the mend but staying in self-isolation

Mansfield Town have confirmed that midfielder Alistair Smith is ‘feeling much better’ and has showed significant signs of improvement.

The 20-year-old, on loan to Conference North outfit Kettering Town, took ill with a high fever on Saturday before their match at AFC Telford.

Smith was instructed by Mansfield Town’s medical staff to self-isolate, in line with Government advice, and told to report any deterioration or development of new symptoms.

The player has showed significant signs of improvement, but will remain in self-isolation for the time being, in line with government advice.

Smith today contacted the club and has said he is ‘feeling much better’.

He will continue to be monitored by the medical team during this time and the club said appropriate action will be taken should his symptoms change.
