Ten-man Gainsborough Trinity slipped to second-from-bottom of the National League North on Tuesday evening after a 3-0 home defeat to mid-table Bradford Park Avenue.

Trinity, unbeaten in their two previous matches, were above bottom side FC United of Manchester only on goals scored.

The visitors, who were more clinical in front of goal, scored twice in the opening half-hour — Oli Johnson driving home in the 14th minite and Adam Boynes looping a header over keeper Henrich Ravas 15 minutes later.

At the other end Ashley Worsfold fired wide and then saw his header tipped over.

Trinity battled hard in an even first half, but struggled to find a cutting edge.

Just after the hour mark Craig King’s effort was cleared off the line as the home side strived for a way back.

But 14 minutes from time Nathan Jarman was sent off for dissent, his second yellow card in six minutes.

Wayne Brooksby side-footed in Bradford’s third in the 85th minute to condemn Trinity to their sixth defeat in nine league matches.

They travel to Alfreton Town on Saturday.
