High-flying Clipstone beaten by Hallam in NCEL

High-flying Clipstone must be scratching their heads wondering why they did not pick up any points at all as they lost 2-1 at home to Hallam in the Northern Counties East League Division One.

They had all the possession in the first half, then scored a wonderful goal in the second, but it just was not their day.

Hallam to be fair did have the better of things in the second half of this game but Clipstone could and probably should have been four goals up at the break.

Hallam came out for the second half with a different attitude and just two minutes into the half Jake Wright was pulled down by Callum Mawby, Steve Brammer beating Lewis Naylor from the spot.

Sub Matt Austin hit a high ball up to Jamie Smith who, with a first time volley, caught the keeper in no-man’s land and smashed the ball just underneath the crossbar to bring Clipstone back level.

But Hallam re-took the lead as Brammer floated a ball through for Jake Wright to latch onto and poke past the helpless keeper.
