Henri Lansbury targets strong end to the season for Nottingham Forest

The 25-year-old former Arsenal midfielder was thought to be out for the rest of the season with an ankle ligament injury sustained in January.

But he is back in contention for the Reds squad to face Brentford at the City Ground on Saturday - and has targeted a strong end to the campaign.

He said: “We do still need a few points to ensure we do not have to look over our shoulders. But it is not just about that, it is about ending the season on a high.

“If the boys can give it our all for the final few games, we can hopefully do that.

“We have had a little break in the last few weeks and everyone should be refreshed and ready to go.”

He believes there have been positives to take from Paul Williams’ and Andy Reid’s spell in charge so far.

“The two lads who have taken charge want to play pressing football,” Lansbury said.

“They do not want to sit back and let the opposition have possession. We want to pin them back and make them try to get possession off us.

“That is what the new gaffers have been working on and that is something the boys are looking forward to doing again, in the next few games.”

Forest picked up a point at Hull City then suffered a narrow defeat to rivals Derby County at the iPro Stadium under Williams and Reid, who have taken over the reins until the end of the season when a new manager is expected to arrive.

But Lansbury isn’t looking that far ahead.

“I am not sure uncertainty is the right word. But we will focus on the rest of the season for now and then see where we are in the summer.

“There is always a question mark over whether the new manager will pick you or not. But I will worry about that one when the time comes.

“For now, it is important that we finish the season positively, by picking up a few decent results,” he added.
