Shirebrook Town went within inches of claiming all three points away to AFC Emley but had to settle for a point in a 2-2 draw.
Town’s Liam Greenfield cancelled out Ruben Jerome’s opener before Luke Johnson put the visitors ahead minutes in to the second half.
They held the advantage until seven minutes from time when Sam Jerome levelled the scores once more before Greenfield was denied late on. Matty Ord and Wez Hill were drafted in and, with normal keeper Rob White unable to make the trip, centre-back Paul Sykes donned the gloves. Shirebrook started the brighter of the two teams with Luke Johnson and Craig Getliff both testing Adam Lawlor in the Emley net.
But fell behind when Jerome showed some nice footwork to get into the box and his shot found the top corner. The lead didn’t last long.
Lawlor failed to deal with a back pass under pressure and Greenfield was left with the easy task of putting the ball into an empty net.
Level at the break, Town again started the half well and in the 51st minute Johnson’s shot slipped through the hands of Lawlor to give the visitors the lead.
Ashley Flynn went close for Emley then Jerome rose highest at the back post from a corner to level before Lawlor’s heroics.
