Green Dragon were too good for local rivals T8’s after they came away with an easy 5-0 win.
After playing some really good football at times with nothing to show for it throughout the season to date it was credit to the Dragon’s that they had so much belief in their fighting spirit and brand of football.
T8’s were double winners last season and defeated Dragon’s twice in that season.
T8’s had also soundly beaten Dragon’s earlier this season, but were not getting all their own way in the league or Cups this year and were only one place above the Dragons in the league positions.
Dragons took the bull by the horns from the word go and took te lead when Kane Matthews found space about 20 yards outside the T8’s penalty area and his shot deflected off a T8’s player and lobbed into the goal.
T8’s then settled into their game a bit and had a spell of good attacking play, but offered nothing to trouble the Dragon’s back line.
Dragon’s doubled their score before half-time when good work from midfielder Jack Matthews found winger Jonny Bernard on the right.
His lovely weighted square pass found man of the match Kane Matthews who scored the easiest of goals to double his tally.
Dragons were not going to take things for granted in the second half and knew that they would have to maintain their standards for the next 45 minutes.
But it was effectively game over when Bernard headed the ball into the corner of the T8’s net for the Dragon’s third after T8’s failed to clear their lines..
With T8’s offering little and tiring quickly Dragon’s scored two more before the end of the game.
Dragon’s keeper Jamie Taylor, who had been a spectator for most of the game, is taking credit for the fourth Dragon’s goal when, from another good kick.
The T8’s defender and goalkeeper got in each other’s way and the ball ended up in the T8’s net.
Then at the death midfielder Josh Haskey closed down the keeper and got the rebound at his feet with an empty net in front of him to seal the victory with an easy goal.
