Goals galore in Alfreton Sunday League

Rainbow International put in a five-star performance that demolished Huthwaite FC and will send a shudder through the rest of the Alfreton Sunday League.

The hosts passed their previously unbeaten opponents and table-toppers off the park and crafted a number of well-worked goals.

The contest was over by the break when the hosts established a 4-0 lead. The second half followed a similar pattern as Rainbow stretched their advantage to 9-0.

Cory Bowler got a second goal, as did team-mates Nigel Haslam, Dan Storer, Daniel Orme and Danny Anson.

Jacksdale Social Club came out on top in a 12-goal thriller with Boundary Athletic, eventually winning 7-5, in an incident-filled game.

Bluey’s FC beat Jolly Colliers 5-4, George Inn lost 4-2 to White Swan in the other games in Division One.

The Hay beat Heanor Pheonix 6-1 in Division Two. The Gardeners and Village Inn maintained their 100 per cent records with a 5-4 victory over Jacksdale MW Athletic and 3-0 success over Codnor FC respectively.

Elsewhere Swanick Villa beat Out of Town 5-3 and Marlpool United beat Codnor Athletic 6-2.
