Glory at Burnley as Mansfield Town claim famous Premier League scalp in FA Cup upset
Mansfield Town pulled off a sensational FA Cup giant-killing this afternoon as they came from behind to win 2-1 at Premier League Burnley.
On a freezing afternoon, the visitors produced a superb second half showing of guts and passion to haul themselves back into a contest they had struggled with in the first half and ultimately wrote themselves into the club history books as they made round five for only the fifth time in their history.
Stags held out for 21 minutes until the Clarets broke through with a sublime piece of skill by Josh Laurent.
The visitors battled manfully, but the home side should have been further ahead by the break with some wasteful finishing from quality moves.

But clearly still in the contest and with nothing to lose, Mansfield came back out with a renewed zest, gave it a real go and managed to level the game with a Rhys Oates header on 53 minutes.
The visitors were then in dreamland when captain Louis Reed put them ahead with just 10 minutes to go with a magnificent free kick worthy of winning any game.
Boss Nigel Clough made six changes to the side that lost 2-1 to Peterborough in midweek with Kyle Knoyle, Stephen McLaughlin, Lucas Akins, Aaron Lewis, Rhys Oates and Will Evans replacing Elliott Hewitt, Baily Cargill, Luke Bolton, Regan Hendry, Nathan Moriah-Welsh and Victor Adeboyejo.
Home boss Scott Parker made nine changes with Maxime Esteve and Josh Laurent the only two players to keep their places in the team from Wednesday night’s comeback victory at Crystal Palace.

But it was still a strong, experienced side with a strong-looking bench for the home side too.
James Ward-Prowse was handed his first start for the club.
Stags were cheered out by almost 3,500 away fans, the home side refusing the give any further allocation to Mansfield, despite demand at the Stags end.
Mansfield had a big let-off after only three minutes when Oshilaja lost control, sparking a Burnley break which ended with Barnes somehow pocking wide from six yards from a low left wing cross.

Stags enjoyed a fair bit of possession as they grew into the game and on 18 minutes Lewis had a shot charged down.
But Burnley broke through on 21 minutes.
Some untidy play on the edge of the box saw the ball reach Laurent on the right and, six yards out, he superbly dummied both Oates and Roberts before rolling the ball into the empty net.
Roberts was perfectly placed to gather a low 20 yard effort from Foster on 26 minutes.

Knoye came to the rescue on the half-hour as a Burnley break saw Larsen square for Foster to finish, but Knoyle slid in to hook the ball away before he could strike.
Oates did have the ball in the home net on 34 minutes but had clearly fouled Ekdal to get past him and his finish was never going to stand.
Burnley missed a sitter on 37 minutes as Barnes sent Laurent into space on the right and his flick inside gave Tchaouna just Roberts to beat only to see him skew his finish wide from 10 yards.
Ekdal's foul on Evans saw the game's first booking a minute later.
Barnes joined him two minutes later for his protests after believing he had been fouled in the box by Blake-Tracy.
Ekdal sent a dipping header over just before the break.
Burnley had the first chance of the second half as Laurent crossed from the left and Tchaouna sent a powerful header wide.
Mansfield finally had a serious chance on 49 minutes after a slip by Ekdal allowed Oates to race clear. But from just inside the box he curled a finish over the far angle.
Then Hartman did just enough to prevent Akins getting on the end of an Oates cross at the far post.
Larsen had two shots blocked in the Mansfield box.
But on 53 minutes the visitors were level.
Akins found Knoyle to his right and his far post cross was headed back across the keeper and inside the post by Oates.
Laurent barged over Lewis on 56 minutes for a third Burnley booking and soon after Akins was also cautioned for obstructing the run of Foster, then Evans for kicking the ball after the whistle had gone.
Hendry came on for Russell on the hour for the visitors.
Burnley tried to step up a gear and Barnes headed over from a corner on 69 minutes.
McLaughlin forced a save out of Weiss on 72 minutes from an Oates' pull-back and a minute later Evans flicked a header wide from a Lewis cross with the giant-killing dream still very much a possibility.
Edwards warmed Roberts' hands with a stinging shot on 77 minutes that the keeper could only parry.
A hugh boot from Florentino on 78 minutes cut Oates' head and earned the Burnley man a booking.
And from that free kick 25 yards out Stags roared ahead on 80 minutes.
Reed stepped up and brilliantly picked his spot in the top left corner to send the travelling fans into wild celebrations behind that goal.
Stags made a triple change with seven minutes to go as Oates, Evans and Knoyle were replaced by Bolton, Adeboyejo and Hewitt.
A minute from time Fleming hooked a golden chance from an equaliser over the bar from six yards from a nod down and Stags sensed blood.
Four agonising minutes were added and in the last of them Hartman sent a tame low shot at Roberts.
The final whistle brought deafening cheers from the away stand and a chorus of boos from the rest of Turf Moor as the Clarets' miserable season continued to nosedive while Stags began the celebrations.
