George Abbott 'will return to Mansfield Town' from Tottenham in League One Deadline Day update
Mansfield Town are on the cusp of welcoming George Abbott back to the One Call Stadium.
There have been plenty of whispers over the summer regarding the Tottenham Hotspur youngster returning to Stags after he made his mark on loan in amber and blue last season.

Now, a Deadline Day update from football.london’s Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold says Abbott ‘will return’ to Mansfield Town this season on another loan stint as he pursues regular minutes on the pitch.
The 21-year-old first joined Stags during the winter transfer window, on loan until the end of last season. He made an impact right away, coming off the bench to score on his debut against Peterborough and developing into a first team regular. Abbott started seven games in all competitions, including the FA Cup fifth round clash against Arsenal.
Unfortunately, Abbott’s time with Stags was cut short after he picked up an injury and did not feature again after the 0-0 draw against Burton in April. Gold also reported at the time that the midfielder had sustained a ‘serious quad injury’ that would rule him out until pre-season.
Now, Abbott is looking to continue his progression and will return to the One Call Stadium for the 2026/27 season, ‘with the hope of staying fit and getting valuable gametime'.
If Stags complete this deal, he will join fellow loanee Owen Dodgson in the ranks for this season, as well as full-time signings Jon Russell, David McGoldrick, Michael Smith and Liam Thompson.
