Gary Bowyer left frustrated by Burton Albion's finishing in draw at Mansfield Town

Frustrated Gary Bowyer felt Burton Albion should have taken all the points in their draw at Mansfield Town.

The Brewers boss was left disappointed after watching his relegation-threatened side blow a number of good first half chances during the 0-0 draw.

The battling point leaves Burton just two points above the drop zone with four games to go.

“We have had some wonderful opportunities and have not taken them,” said Bowyer.

“We had some great chances in the first half and we demanded more in the second half, the players delivered that. It was just that last bit in the final third.

“We needed to do more in the final third. It is just a case of that little bit more composure, that’s all. With that performance, we have to be leaving here with three points. We haven’t because we haven’t done enough in front of goal.

“The most important thing if you are not taking your chances is to make sure you keep a clean sheet, and we did that.

“We leave with a point which is a point more than we had this morning. There are loads of positives to take going into Saturday.”

The visitors started the game in impressive fashion and were inches away from an early opener when Tyrese Shade hit the post.

Shade failed to latch on to a cross with the goal at his mercy after Eliott Hewitt fluffed his clearance on 20 minutes.

Jake Beesley blazed over from 12 yards out after Kyran Lofthouse easily beat Stephen McLaughlin to get a cross in.

Regan Hendry’s cross-shot was palmed away, before Oliver Irow and Hewitt saw half-chances go begging in the closing minutes of the half.

Shade had a strike ruled out for offside after a brilliant throughball from Webster on the hour mark.

Bradley Collins did well to turn away a well-hit Ryhs Oates shot minutes later, before Webster drilled well wide after finding space.

Beesley headed just wide after getting on the end of Toby Sibbick’s cross on 79 minutes as Burton failed to find the opener.
