'Fuming' Graham Coughlan says Mansfield Town switched off in Leyton Orient draw... but remains positive about club's prospects

However, the Stags boss admitted his raw emotion would subside, and suggested there were still plenty of positives to take from the draw at Brisbane Road.

"I just think we sank. Maybe our mindset was 'well, this game is wrapped up'. And it never is, football is never over until the referee blows the whistle," he told BBC Radio Nottingham.

"It was really disappointing to concede in the manner we did given we were really comfortable in the second half.

"We had so many opportunities to put the game to bed, to go and get a third goal, get a fourth goal.

"It was a thought process, mindset, mentality. Whatever the case may be, we've chucked another two points this week."

Jordan Bowery's spot kick and Andy Cook's goal put the Stags in a commanding position, but Danny Johnson and Ruel Sotiriou pulled the hosts level, the equaliser arriving in stoppage time.

Coughlan couldn't hide his frustrations as Town had to settle for their second draw of the League Two campaign, following last week's goalless draw with Tranmere Rovers.

But the league season is a marathon, not a sprint, and the Stags boss is backing is side to come good over the course of the campaign.

"Taking emotions out of it - its 10 minutes after the final whistle and I'm still fuming - so I have to be careful what I say - but look, I'm proud of that group," Coughlan reflected.

"To come and play like that away at Leyton Orient, a club that is flying, full credit to them.

"If we can just take out that 10-minute period I thought we were very good again today. The overriding fact is we're really onto something."

Coughlan did, however, confess his side should have more than two points to show for their efforts so far.

"I think we were running balls into the corner where I'd like to see us go one-on-one with the centre halves, go take them on," he said.

"But we just looked up tight, tense and nervous from the off and I didn't think our decision making process was great today. But that's part and parcel of a developing footballing team.

"Let's not get away from the fact we should be sitting here six points from six given the two performances we've put in.

"That's the frustrating part and why I'm fuming. But I've every faith in the group in what they've shown us, the signs are positive."
