Former York City and Gateshead defender Tom Allan signs for Alfreton Town

Alfreton Town have made their fifth new signing ahead of the 2015/16 Vanarama National League North season with former York City and Gateshead defender Tom Allan joining the Reds on a one-year contract.

Allan, 20, began his career with home town club York City aged eight and went out on loan to Hucknall Town in 2011.

Tom signed a professional contract with York in December 2012 and he went on to make ten League Two appearances for the Minstermen before going out on loan to Harrogate Town.

He was released by City in May 2014 and joined Gateshead for the 2014/15 season, making 21 appearances in all competitions for the Heed last season, scoring once.

Reds manager Nicky Law is delighted to bring Allan in. “Tom is someone I considered bringing in on loan last season.

He is fitting the criteria we are looking for this season, his age, he is 6’4’’ tall, left footed and can play left back and centre half” said Law.

“We feel he will be a good signing and he is one we are certainly pleased to get.”
