Former Mansfield Town midfielder Willem Tomlinson has found a new club, signing for non-league Chorley.

The 22-year-old was expected to be part of the Mansfield Town squad this season, but had his contract terminated in September - following what former manager Graham Coughlan labelled 'misdemeanours'.

The former Blackburn Rovers youngster trialled with Accrington Stanley after being told he was free to leave One Call Stadium.

But yesterday the Magpies, who play in the National League North following last season's relegation from non-league's top tier, announced they had persuaded him to move to Victory Park.

"Willem let himself down on a number of occasions, only once, I may add, with myself," Coughlan said in the days following Tomlinson's exit.

"He's obviously a player I liked and it did haunt me. I put my arm around him when I came through the door.

"That doesn't mean he's a bad player, because we let him go. He's a good player, he just needs to sort himself out.

"I felt he broke my trust. I felt he let himself, the changing room and the football club down."

Tomlinson made 33 appearances for the Stags and could make his Chorley debut against Hereford this afternoon.
