Former Leeds United player plots Ollerton's downfall

The 34-year-old Carole, a Frenchman who made 41 appearances for Leeds between 2006 and 2008 and also had spells with Brighton, Tranmere Rovers and Bury, pulled the strings for promotion-chasers Knaresborough Town.

The result did little to damage Ollerton’s hopes of surviving relegation in their debut season in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League’s First Division, but they could do with putting together a decent run to avoid nervously looking over their shoulders in the coming weeks. There would be no better time to start than with this Saturday’s important clash away to bottom-three outfit Worsbrough Bridge Athletic.

The trip to Knaresborough was always going to be tough for Dave Winter’s men, but they were bitterly disappointed with their performance, never recovering from a poor start when Brad Walker slotted past goalkeeper Joe Parker in the 13th minute.

Either side of the half-time break, Ollerton had good chances to equalise. The ball rolled agonisngly wide in a goalmouth scramble and then the prevoous week’s hero, Sam Dockwray, fired over from just outside the area.

However, Knaresborough were next to strike instead as Jim Bradley’s stunning 20-yard shot on the hour flew into the top corner, leaving Parker with no chance, and from then on, the hosts coasted home.

Moments later, their ‘keeper, Ben Ledger, sent a big punt upfield that made its way through the Ollerton defence far too easily and was latched on to by Fraser lancaster, who beat Parker to head in.

And two minutes from the end came an almost identical fourth goal as Ledger’s long kick was met this time by Colin Heath, who tapped in his 20th goal of the campaign.
