Rainworth take a break from their torrid start to their Evo-Stik League Division One South season when they begin their FA Cup campaign against neighbours Staveley, who play one level down in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division, with the winners of the tie due to travel to either Mickleover Sports or Thurnby Nirvana in the first qualifying round.

Both sides go into the match on the back of heavy defeats, with Rainworth having lost 5-0 at Sheffield on Bank Holiday Monday, while Staveley lost 4-0 at Shaw Lane Aquaforce in their last action.

The nature of the match, between two miners’ welfare sides, has attracted the interest of the FA’s media partners Input Media, who have homed in on the tie and will be present to film the match, interview officials and/or supporters, and feature the heritage and backgrounds of both clubs for the FA’s Preview Show.

The show, which goes out both nationally and internationally, will be released in advance of the first round proper in November, and the tie will feature in a look back at the qualifying rounds of the competition.

An added attraction will be the presence of a brass band to play before the match and help provide the kind of atmosphere which would have been prevalent at a tie of this nature in years gone by.

Meanwhile, the Wrens will be in cup action again on Tuesday night when they visit Loughborough Dynamo in the Doodson Sport Cup, provided that neither side requires an FA Cup replay.
