“The atmosphere will be brilliant. We had it here on Saturday against Grimsby,” smiled Evans.

Lincoln City fans, like Grimsby’s fans, are passionate about their team and they will give me stick on Saturday.

“But they should know the respect I hold for them.

“All around football managers have more respect for opposition fans than they probably think they get. That is because if you are passionate as a manager that’s the first ingredient you look for in your supporters.

“We’ve got that in abundance at Mansfield Town. We were 3-1, 4-1 up on Saturday and one or two were still having moans and groans. It’s passion and I love it as I’d be the same if I was watching Celtic.”

Evans added: “My message to our supporters is go and represent our town and our club with some real dignity and some class and let’s have a day where if we’ve got everything right on the pitch, we’ve got everything right off it too.

“Let’s all have a good day and remember at the other end of the stand there are only people there wanting their team to win, same as us.”

Evans said Sincil Bank wasn’t a venue he’d been to many times as a manager.

“We will make some changes and I am sure Danny Cowling will make some changes as well,” he said.

“We have to go there and try to add to our points tally, which is always tough.

“Over the years I have only been there on a few occasions and they have always been tough fixtures But we are looking forward to it.”
