“It’s nice to get a bit of sun on your back and practice your swimming. But I’m glad to be back. I was bored after about three days, so I am ready to go.

“Especially with the Euros on as well, it’s hard to shut off. We were only saying yesterday how quickly the summer has almost gone – I think it is because you have the play-offs then the Euros as well. So you don’t really switch off.”

He added: “We still had a little bit of business to do, planning for pre-season games, training and what-not, so it’s been a hectic summer again. But we like it like that.

“The boys are back in on Monday. The young lads and a few of the younger pros have been in over the summer with DT doing a lot of fitness and conditioning work, making sure they’re ready to go and hit the ground running.

“We are looking forward to getting started. We will have the first week at Brooksby College and then we crack on with the games.”

Murray is also expected to reveal who his No.2 will be next season over the next few days.

“I have made my decision and that will probably be announced this week,” he said. “I have just got to get the paperwork done with him.
