But they were unable to find a breakthrough on their way to a defeat which saw The Imps march relentlessly to the League One title.
It proved to be another frustrating defeat for Stags boss Nigel Clough who felt his side had been once again done by the ref.
Both Rhys Oates and Tyler Roberts looked to have good shouts for a penalty, while Lincoln opened the scoring through a Rob Street spot-kick.
“So to have two very good shouts for a penalty as well as a free kick on the edge of their box and not get any of them was incredible,” said Clough.
“Conservatively now that's 10 points this season that decisions have cost us. Most teams might say they've cost us two or three points, but not 10.”
But Lincoln City manager Michael Skubala felt referee David Rock got the calls spot on.
“Ours was definitely a penalty,” he said. “None of Mansfield's shouts were penalties for me. It was difficult for the referee with the noise from the home crowd, but I thought he got every one of them right and did really well.”
