But the Stags are awaiting on the results of a scan on Hayden White’s ankle ligaments after improvements in his injury took a turn for the worse.

“Craig is nearer than Hayden,” said boss David Flitcroft

“We left Craig behind at the weekend and he did some sessions. He is not far off and he will join in with us today on grass.

“We will assess that situation and we are really hopeful of having him back in the squad.”

However, defender White may miss out after his ankle injury worsened after initial improvement saw him almost make the squad last weekend.

“Hayden has gone over and rocked his ankle ligaments,” said Flitcfroft.

“We have been looking at the severity of the strain and we have had it scanned. We are waiting on an update.

“It had settled down quite a bit over a two day period and we thought we might have him in and around it last Saturday with how he was presenting. But it slowed down and ligaments can do that.

“An ankle injury can sometimes be strange as it seems to come back after you’ve done it and you think it’s stable and okay and then after a couple of days of it doing really well the injury plateaus.”
