Danny Rose excited for fresh challenge after leaving Mansfield Town

Danny Rose believes Northampton Town was the perfect place for him after being sold by Mansfield Town.

Rose (26) called time on his four-year Stags career this week to join the League One outfit with John and Carolyn admitting they couldn’t stand in his way.

Rose, who has played in the division before with Bury, said: "It is a great opportunity for me and a new challenge.

"I have been in League Two for a few seasons and I am ambitious to play in League One, so this move gives me that opportunity and I can't wait to get started.

"This is a good club, it is a good, effective squad and I can't wait to be part of it. The club has a clear identity and I think that will suit me.

"When I was speaking to the gaffer here we spoke about that and we agreed on that and I am hoping I can chip in with a few goals to help the team.

"There are some really big clubs in League One and I am excited about some of the games we have.

Rose scored 12 times in 34 matches for Mansfield, before the season was brought to a premature end by the coronavirus pandemic.

In a joint statement, chairman and co-chairwoman John & Carolyn Radford said: ”Danny has served Mansfield Town admirably in the last four seasons.

“In the current climate, it is uncommon for a player to be given the chance to move to a club in a higher division and it would have been incorrect of us to impede Danny’s opportunity of playing at a higher level.”
