Cobras punished for a slow start to season
Clipstone manager Micky Taylor admitted his side's first match in the East Midlands Counties League '” a 3-1 defeat at Kimberley Welfare '” was a reality check after a successful pre-season.
“We have only just got together and this is a new set of lads,” he said.

“But you can’t give teams a two-goal start in the first 20 minutes.
After that we controlled the game and they never looked like scoring in the second half, apart from the scrambled goal.”
Clipstone man-of-the-match Charlie Taylor headed over before Isaac Minott’s fortunate ricochet broke the deadlock in the 11th minute.
In the 20th minute the Cobras missed an excellent chance to equalise when a Danny Naylor free kick found Steve Sowter unmarked, but he headed wide.
Jordan Alls headed the hosts further in front midway through the first period .
Substitute Dean Rick and Tim Gregory went close just before half-time to giving he visitors a lifeline.
They got back into the match, however, six minutes into the second period when captain Jason Gregory headed home a Danny Naylor free kick.
The Cobras then dominated but failed to create a clear-cut chance, and were punished when Lee Williamson slammed in.
