CML round-up: Second half surge wins it for Ollerton

After a goalless first half, Ollerton Town got the better of Dinnington Town, coming out 2-1 winners in the Central Midlands League Black Dragon Badges North Division.

Chris Hewitt gave them the lead, the second coming direct from a Rob Evans corner with Matthew Preece pulling one back for Dinnington.

Clay Cross Town returned to the top of the table with a comprehensive 11-goal thrashing of Brodsworth Welfare.

The prolific Ant Lynam opened the scoring just 90 seconds into the game, and the Millers never looked back. Lynam completed his eighth hat trick of the season taking his total to 34, Shane Burton also scoring three with Aiden Ordidge (2), Josh Clayton, Ben Wilson and Tomas Poole also on target.

Clay Cross overtook Thoresby Colliery, who went down to their first defeat since the opening day of the season, losing 2-1 at Kinsley Boys.

The Nighthawks’ 13-game winning run was halted by goals from Andrew Davis and Matthew Roberts, with Lewis Bingham the Thoresby scorer.

A Kenzie Tomlinson hat trick inspired Harworth Colliery’s 5-1 defeat of Thorne Colliery. His 12th minute penalty was the only goal of the first half, but he added two more after the break before Jack Steadman pulled one back for Thorne.

Two late goals for Lee Edmondson ensured the points for Harworth. Easington United’s Mark Hutchinson was another player to manage a hat-trick, but his three weren’t enough to trouble visitors Askern, for whom Carl Horsley also scored three times.

The final score was 6-3 to the visitors, Horsley’s hat-trick being added to by Shaun Mundy (2) and Jordan McCabe.

Appleby Frodingham travelled to Bentley Colliery and returned to North Lincolnshire with the points after a 4-1 win. On target for Frod were Christopher Rogers with two, Daniel Barrowcliffe and Dayle Hutson, Bentley’s goal coming from Lee Drobac.

With Black Dragon Badges South division leaders Mickleover Royals in Sunday Vase action, second-placed Clifton All Whites reduced the gap with a 6-3 defeat of Harrowby Saints.

Clifton built up a 5-1 lead by the break before the Saints steadied the ship in the second half.

Scott Litchfield scored twice for Clifton, with Ben Clark, Dave Hawkes, Dan Starbuck and Danny Johnson making up the half dozen.

Jack Millward with two and Jawanza Grant were the Saints’ scorers.

Andy Start gave Hucknall Rolls the lead at Pinxton, but two goals in two second half minutes from Kurtis Bamford and Joel Smith turned things round for the home side, Darren Bettison adding a third in the latter stages.

Real United marked their first home game in six weeks with a four goal win over Swanwick Pentrich Road, Jerome O’Connor (2), Jourdan Blair and Glodie Bange among the goals.

Mickleover RBL deepened the gloom at Holbrook St Michaels, inflicting a 5-1 defeat over the home side.

There was a goal each for Daz Rushton, Josh Williams, Rob Lowrie, Michael Meehan and Ben Stockley, Rob Inckle the scorer of the Holbrook goal.
