CML round-up: Parfitt bags another Glapwell hat-trick

Parfitt fired Glapwell into the lead after only four minutes when he lifted the ball over the onrushing keeper from just outside the area.

Two minutes later and Glapwell gave the home side a mountain to climb as James Whitfield’s good work down the left saw him pull the ball back to Nathan Whitehead who fired into the bottom corner from eight yards. Glapwell had chances to be completely out of sight and Parfitt was denied by an offside flag as he deflected Jordan Jones’ shot over home keeper Matt Herschell-Smith.

But it was three when Parfitt raced clear before finishing well from the edge of the area. Glapwell sloppily allowed the home side back into it, though, on 41 minutes when poor concentration allowed Sam Hadfield to finish via the inside of the post.

The three-goal cushion was restored, though, on the stroke of half-time when Nathan Whitehead played in James Whitfield, who slotted the ball home after rounding the keeper.

Whitehead added Glapwell’s fifth just into the second period when he held off a defender before finishing over the keeper from just outside the area.

Further chances were created with Parfitt having three opportunities to complete a hat-trick before he finally did that on 84 minutes when he went around the keeper before slotting the ball into the empty net to complete a fine away victory which moved Glapwell back into the top four.

Thirteen proved unlucky for Dinnington Town who were swamped on their visit to a rampant Clay Cross Town.

The Millers registered three hat-tricks, Ant Lynam, Richie Matthews and Aiden Ordidge all finding the net three times. Danny Robinson and Ben Goodwin scored one each, Shane Burton rounding things off with two late goals.

Sherwood Colliery finally opened their account for the season with a 4-2 defeat of Thorne Colliery. The match was a personal triumph for Sherwood’s Craig Payne, who scored all of his side’s goals, Scott Rhodes grabbing both for Thorne.

Easington United picked up their first win since the opening day of the season, two goals from Marcus Hall and one by Andy Martin being two much for Ollerton Town, whose reply came from Craig Stanton.

Thoresby Colliery now lie third after a narrow win at Harworth Colliery, the final score 3-2. Lewis Bingham with two and Jamie Tryner’s goals for Thoresby were answered by an early goal from Harworth’s Greg Fox and a last minute strike by Arron Blakey.

The North Doncaster derby ended all square, Ryan Nicholson’s goal for Bentley being answered by Broddy’s Graeme Severn.

Two late goals from Askern’s Carl Horsley and Jason Kearsley sentenced Welbeck Welfare to defeat at Elkesley Road. The scores had been level at the interval, Lloyd Kemp netting for Welbeck and Alex Rennie for Askern.

Two more teams reached the second round of the League Cup.

Westella VIP had to come from behind to see off Appleby Frodingham. Rob Petch and Chris Spinks both scored twice, with Frod’s marksmen being Daniel Simpson (2) and Daniel Barrowcliffe.

A severely depleted Newark Town came through 2-1 at Kinsley Boys.

Daryl Price put Town one up in the first half before sub Rob Winter doubled the score on his debut. Liam Owen got one back a couple of minutes from the end, but it’s Newark who now face the journey to Easington in round two.

Mickleover Royals march on at the top of the Black Dragon Badges South Division.

They completed their eighth successive victory with a convincing 5-1 defeat of third place Linby Colliery at the Raygar Stadium.

Royals’ captain Dan Martin led the way with two goals, Matt Savage, Joshua Gregory and Chris Martin scoring the others, with Ruban Mitchell netting for Linby.

Bulwell fell to their second defeat of the week, going down 3-2 at Belper United who now lie second in the table. Jordan Ball and Sam Vickers gave United the interval lead, Joe Fisher pulling one back before Scott Slater restored the two goal advantage, Fisher’s second for Bulwell proving too little, too late.

Hucknall Town moved up to third, inflicting a sixth successive defeat on Southwell City.

The final score was 5-2 at Watnall Road, Hucknall’s goals coming from Leon Aikman (2), Adam Nelson (2) and Ben Waplington, City replying through Stef Whitely and Sheldon Tuitt.

Blidworth Welfare inflicted a 3-1 defeat on Swanwick Pentrich Road, with Olly Ashton and Jordan Harris opening up a two goal lead before Guy Wilding reduced the arrears, Jordan Simpson getting Blidworth’s third five minutes from time.

After a slow start, reigning champions Clifton All Whites are picking up the pace, they moved into the top six after a 3-1 win over Mickleover RBL. Ben Clark, Scott Litchfield and Connor Hardy were all on target for the All Whites, Stuart Poynter getting the Legion’s goal.

Pinxton picked up the points, beating Real United by three clear goals at Wharf Road, thanks to Chris Shelton, Antony Rowley and Tom Ellis.

Hucknall Rolls Leisure were also 3-0 winners, they travelled to Holbrook St Michaels, goals from Kane Matthews, who got two, and Jack Smith bringing them maximum points.

Harrowby Saints followed up their impressive win at Bulwell in midweek, a single goal from Henoc Isamene being enough to send Eastwood Community to their sixth straight defeat.

Teversal and Matlock Town are neck and neck at the top of the Reserve Supreme Division, both teams adding three more points to their tally.

Tevie beat Holbrook Sports 4-2 with Jamie Walters (3) and Tom Bates finding the net. Dom Hayes and Jamie Shelton replied for Holbrook.

Matlock got the better of Dronfield Town, winning by three goals to one. Matt Andrews, with two, and Declan Jenkins were the match winners, Jack Lambert scoring a consolation for Dronfield. Borrowash Victoria hit Radford for six, Daniel Riley and Callum Holler both scoring twice, Sam Tozer and Patrick Connolly with one each, Kev Davis getting one back for the visitors.

Chris Gilson’s two helped Heanor Town to a 3-1 win over Dunkirk. Oliver Naylor got the third, Dunkirk’s goal coming from the penalty spot.

There were only two games in the Reserve Premier Division.

Mickleover RBL’s Ben Ridley struck four times in their 6-0 win over Sherwood Colliery, Jamie Carter and Chis Townley adding one apiece.

Hucknall Town won 5-1 at Thoresby Colliery with Aaron Evans (2), Romeo Mugadza, Jerome Ellis and Ayokunle Abbis all scoring for the visitors, Keiron Allen for Thoresby.
