CML round-up: Blidworth repeat Southwell hammering

Blidworth Welfare repeated the 5-0 scoreline they inflicted on Southwell City in the Central Midlands League Black Dragon Badges South Division just four weeks ago.

Sam Dockwray and Gary Atkins gave the home side an interval lead, Dockwray completing his hat-trick and Gary Buchanan converting a last minute penalty to round things off.

Top against bottom saw Eastwood Community upset the form book with a creditable goalless draw against leaders Mickleover Royals, only the fourth time the Derby side have conceded points this season.

The point gained by Eastwood lifted them off the foot of the table for the first time.

Belper United got off to a blistering start in their match at Bulwell, Evan Garnett putting them in front with just 23 seconds played.

The second goal didn’t arrive until six minutes from time, Jordan Ball doubling the lead, while Richard Saunders’ stoppage time effort for the Bulls was too late to affect the outcome.

Mickleover RBL were 3-0 winners at Harrowby Saints, Ben Stockley’s double and Daz Rushton ensuring maximum points.

Newark Town are up to second place, their 2-0 win at Brodsworth Welfare coming from two first half penalties scored by Jordan Thomas.

Brodsworth were reduced to 10 men just before the interval, putting up a battling second half display, but unable to find the net.

Bilsthorpe left it late to rescue a point at Harworth Colliery, Liam Black scoring in the 87th minute to wipe out Matty Bradley’s 65th minute strike for Harworth.

Kinsley Boys were another team grateful for a late goal as they drew 3-3 at home to Easington United.

Andy Davis got his second of the game in the last minute, Craig Conway the other Kinsley scorer, while Mark Hutchinson (2) and Danny Barron were on target for the Eastenders.

Phoenix moved out of the bottom two after beating Ollerton Town 3-2 at Brinsworth.

It was all square at half-time, Rob Gorman and Jon Sainthouse’s goals for Phoenix answered by Kye Pilmore and Alex Sennett.

Hampered by the loss of top scorer Chris Hewitt through injury, Ollerton conceded the points in the second half, the unfortunate Sennett putting through his own goal.

Thorne Colliery’s recent improvement in form continued with a 3-2 win at Bentley Colliery. Bentley led through a Dan Read goal at the interval, but Darren Fell with two and Kyle Palmer won it for Thorne, Chris Scott adding Bentley’s second.

It was the same scoreline at Sherwood Colliery, where Askern came out on top thanks to a Carl Horsley hat-trick, Brad Middlekoop and Fenn Radford with the Sherwood goals.

Thoresby Colliery are the latest side to make it into the quarter-finals of the League Cup, sponsored by Abacus Lighting.

They were 3-0 winners over Clifton All Whites, Peter Makrillos (2) and James Scothern seeing them through. Swanwick’s tie with Westella VIP was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

The one game in the Reserve Premier division between Holbrook St Michaels and Pinxton was abandoned on 33 minutes after Holbrook goalkeeper Ryan Cooke suffered a broken leg.
