CMFL Round-up: Ollerton Town seal runners up spot

Ollerton Town confirmed their position as runners-up in the Central Midlands Football League North Division, while Hucknall achieved the Reserve Division double, adding the league title to their cup win.

Hucknall’s first team did what was needed to keep their promotion hopes alive in the Black Dragon Badges South division.

They were 2-1 winners at Blidworth Welfare, the game marred by the dismissal of Blidworth’s keeper for a handling offence.

Leon Aikman gave Hucknall the lead from the subsequent free-kick, Adam Nelson getting the second 15 minutes from time.

Tyler Leeds pulled one back but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome. Belper United now need to win at Swanwick on Tuesday to overtake Hucknall and finish runners-up. Hucknall Rolls played their last ever senior game, but it wasn’t a happy ending.

Rory Smith scored from 30 yards to put Rolls ahead against neighbours Bulwell, adding a second to secure a comfortable half-time lead.

Bulwell came out refreshed after the break and were level within five minutes of the restart through a deflected shot from Jay Knight and a Jamie Walker penalty, Walker getting his second on 64 minutes to end Rolls’ 18 year association with the league.

Pinxton finished their season with a 3-1 defeat of Matlock Town Reserves. Chris Shelton, Jimmy Adcock and Jay Cooper scored the Pinxton goals, with Matt Wilkinson replying for Matlock. Mickleover RBL also finished on a high, Jamie Turner, Reece Horne, Josh Williamson and Dave Moon all scoring in their 4-2 win over Collingham, whose marksmen were Sam Greenwood and Ryan Rushen.

It’s been another long week for Swanwick, ending with a 3-0 loss at home to Clay Cross Town. George Slack put the Millers in front on 25 minutes, Joe Harris and Greg Fitzpatrick tying things up in the second half. T

he points were shared at Holbrook where St Michaels and Sherwood Colliery played out a 2-2 draw. Scorers here were Declan Taggart and Sam Williamson for the hosts, and Liam Black and James Meehan for the Wood.

Ollerton Town had Kyle Ludlow to thank for their 3-0 win at Brodsworth Welfare which confirms their runners-up place in the Black Dragon Badges North division. The striker scored all three of his side’s goals, meaning that only the ground graders stand in the way of promotion for the Notts side.

A thrill-packed last four minutes saw Phoenix run out 3-2 winners over champions Glapwell at Brinsworth. An early Haydn Marklew goal put Phoenix in front, the score remaining the same until the 86th minute when Josh Parfitt grabbed an equaliser.

Marklew and Suhail Hussain put the home side back in charge on 87 and 89 minutes, before a hectic end saw Lee Naughton get Glapwell’s second in the final moment.

That most hospitable of clubs, Easington United, bowed out of the league after seven seasons with a two goal defeat at the hands of Appleby Frodingham. Joe Moloney put Frod ahead in the 68th minute, Connor Couch delivering the final blow in the last minute of the match. Welbeck Welfare finished the season with a 4-1 home defeat to Thorne Colliery.

The beleaguered home side scored through Josh Fletcher, but goals from Liam Redmile, Nathan Johnson, Kevin Lynch and Chris Scott sent Thorne back home with the points.

Hucknall Town picked up the three points needed to carry off the title of YourFootballWorld.com Reserve Division champions by beating Harworth Colliery 3-0 at Scrooby Road. Aiden England, Macauley Spencer and Adam Whitemore did the damage, as Hucknall completed the league and cup double. Radford inflicted a 7-2 scoreline on Belper United with Lewis Russell and Macauley Barber scoring two each, Joe Evans, Martin Doyle and Ross Wilson getting one apiece, while Ben Litchfield and Tom Curtis were on target for Belper
