Clipstone boss warns players he will not carry anyone

Boss Dave Hoole has warned his players that he will not accept any passengers.

The Cobras boss was angered by the individual performances of some of his team during the 2-2 draw against Rainworth on Boxing Day.

And he is now calling on his players to take a good look at themselves.

“We were nowhere near the standard we demanded in the first half,” he said.

“We have been doing in house games to try and get the competitive edge so some of the players need to have a look at themselves for their individual performances.

“We scored two good goals, but we have handed them two goals by individual errors.

“You can learn from errors and work on them.”

Hoole also revealed a few home truths were said in the home dressing room after the game.

“We just spoke to the lads and told them a few home truths on my part,” he added.

“They have a responsibility in their own little bubble to get themselves prepared individually for any football game,

“If that means doing a few extra miles or doing some of the nitty gritty then so be it.

“We have made a decision this side of Christmas that we are not going to go carry anybody and we carried one or two today.

“We will knock that on the head and have players in who are prepared to put their bodies on the line to do what we want to do at Clipstone.”

Ryan Ingram fired over the bar with a 16th minute snap shot.

Sam Ogden saved from Ingram ten minutes later after Craig Mitchell played him in.

Their pressure paid off on 28 minutes when Ingram slotted home from a 23 yard free-kick.

Elliot Jones fired a long range shot just wide five minutes later.

Ogden saved well to keep out another shot from the lively Ingram on 36 minutes.

Dec Sorrell levelled from close range on 62 minutes after Charlie Dawes created an opening.

The Cobras hit the front seconds later when Jack Warwick slammed home after Warren Clothier parried a Dawes free-kick into his path.

The lead lasted seven minutes when Ingram drilled home from ten yards following a poor defensive header.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
