Jack Warwick put the Cobras ahead on 48 minutes after heading home Jason Foster’s cross.

Foster missed a golden chance to wrap the game up when he hit the post from a 62nd minute penalty.

And Clipstone paid the price when Courtney Hastings smashed home to level on 72 minutes.

“The boys are disappointed, it is a point gained but possibly two points dropped for those involved,” said Hoole.

“Gedling are a good physical side, but it was one of those Saturday afternoons where it did not go our way.

“I thought we were excellent in the first half and the boys did all we have asked for in terms of moving the ball quickly and creating space.

“We created chances and dominated the first half for long periods.

“After the last two performances we needed to stop the rot and we have done that.

“Overall I am pleased with the performance and the new lads who came in.

“Although we are disappointed with the result, the performance was 100 times better and we are looking ahead.”

Hoole also signalled his delight at the new squad depth at the club and believes results will improve when new players have time to gel.

“We are chopping and changing and trying to find a mice balance,” he added. “Some of the new lads have only been together for 5-6 weeks. It is about getting them to gel and it is a matter of time.

“We have got some good depth and a good bench, the depth in the squad is exceptional at the moment. We don't weaken the side when we change it.”

New signing Charlie Dawes hit the post with a long-range effort just before the break.

Clipstone found the breakthrough when Warwick headed home Foster’s cross three minutes after the restart.

The woodwork rescued the visitors again on 62 minutes when Foster failed to convert a penalty after Chris Smith was pushed.

It was a costly miss when Hastings slotted home after good work by Finlay Gaynor down the left-hand side.
