Cheltenham return for Mansfield Town defender Joe Riley?

Signed from Plymouth Argyle in the January window, the right back, quickly picked up a strain which saw him limp out of two games before missing Saturday's 1-0 home win over Newport County.

However, assistant manager Joe Dunne said: “Joe has improved immensely and had some grass time with the medical staff.

“We expect him to be back in the group this week so that's really encouraging news.

“His recovery is good. We have to be clever and understand he's come to us and played some games in a short space of time.

“When you move on or around deadline day you have to up everything.”

However, a fine display on the right by the returning Hayden White last weekend, will make sure Riley won't expect an easy passage straight back into the team.

“Probably missing last weekend gives Joe a bit of breathing space, which was the idea,” said Dunne.

“But Hayden has gone in now and did well again on Saturday, so there is good competition for places there.

“Joe will probably expect to be in and around by the end of the week which again boost the confidence of the group.”

On injured pair Alex MacDonald and Kellan Gordon, he added: “Macca is probably another week short.

“He had a slight setback over the weekend as he was unwell which has set him back a few days.

“Hopefully he will be back in and around it sooner rather than later.

“I think Kelland has had a little bit of a setback so we await an update on that.”
