“The higher you go the harder you will find it,” he said. “I was confident last year that we would have enough to avoid relegation.

“We were picking up and improving. We found it took a while to get adjusted when we went up to step six level.

“We had to get used to the diving around and the targeting of our players they thought they could wind up. I’m not calling it cheating, but you had to be wiser.

“Step five is a whole new level for learning, but we took a lot from the season and we are in a good position to move forward.

“It is going to be tough, it is going to be hard. It will depend on other teams finances as well and what the knock on will be.

“We have got no doubt that we have a big task ahead of us but it is one we are going to enjoy and relish.”

Ball knows key to any success, both next season and long-term, will depend on their ability to attracts players willing to play for free.

“We do not pay our players, but what we are trying to do as a club, is to try and support them and get them as high as they can go,” he said.

“We are very proud to be at the level we are with the resources that we have. We have got a nucleus of really good local players.”
