With 20 League Two games to go, Chad readers believe Adam Murray's men will miss out on the play-offs this time around, despite their current position in ninth.

Boss Adam Murray has admitted his side are punching above their weight as they sit just one point off the play-off zone.

But in our special Chad poll yesterday, 47 per cent of you said they felt that a long season would eventually catch up with Stags’ small squad and believe they will fall away and end up halfway or below in the end.

Another 37 per cent think Murray is developing a promising squad but that, although they believe Stags will stay in the chase, they feel the side will narrowly miss out this time.

Just 10 per cent agreed that, having stayed in the hunt all season so far, Mansfield have enough to get into the top seven and play-offs while only six per cent thought that, in a very open league, the Stags actually have enough to finish in the top three for automatic promotion.

Murray said today: “We’ve 20 games left – let’s have a right good go and what will be will be. Let’s go and win football matches.

“Let’s try to win every game. If we can win 50 per cent of our games we will be up there. So we’d rather win and lose, win and lose rather than win and draw three.

“We are going to have a go for 20 games and see where we end up. We want to try to sneak into that play-off place.”
