CENTRAL MIDLANDS ROUND-UP: Grim for Welbeck as Bolsover hit 15

With just five days of the Central Midlands League season gone, things already look grim for Welbeck Lions who conceded double figures for the second time in Tuesday's Black Dragon Badges North fixture with FC Bolsover.

The Derbyshire side showed no mercy as they ran in 15 goals at Elkesley Road. Bolsover’s Joshes led the rout, Josh Thomas helping himself to six, Josh Parfitt claiming five and Josh Scully getting two.

There were also goals for Curtis Burchall and Adam Kimberley, while Scott Edwards pulled one back for the overrun home side.

It was much closer at Bilsthorpe, where the home side recovered from their opening day defeat by beating Retford 2-1.

A goalless draw looked on the cards for 80 minutes before Retford took the lead through Steve Hutchinson.

The tables were turned by two goals within a minute as Luke Pickering’s 86th minute leveller was improved on by Kyle Clarkson to open Bilsthorpe’s account for the season.

Appleby Frodingham picked up their second win, four second half goals accounting for visitors Askern at Brumby Hall.

Fabio Snow opened the scoring two minutes after the interval, Nathan Watson doubling the score on the hour.

Further goals from Oliver Bradbury and Stephen McCarron sealed the points.

Swanwick Pentrich Road and Linby Colliery met at Highfield Road in the South division, the home side coming from a goal down to record a convincing 7-1 win.

Jonathan Bullock put Linby ahead in the fourth minute, but that proved to be the high point as Rich Wall equalised on 10 minutes, Dean Owen and Tom Henstock quickly giving the Swans a clear advantage.

Further goals from Jamie Slater, Shane Buckerfield and Chris Turner along with the dismissal of Linby captain Ash Winfield meant the match was all but over by the interval.

The 10-man visitors fared better in the second half, conceding just once more to Henry Brooks eight minutes from time.

Selston made it two from two on Wednesday evening, winning 2-0 at Mickleover RBL.

Wayne Cooke got the first with 16 minutes gone, Ben Moore adding another on the stroke of half-time to put Selston back where they finished last season.

In the YourFootballWorld.com Reserve division, newcomers Linby Colliery went down 4-2 at home to Swanwick Pentrich Road.

Henry Brooks scored a hat trick for the Swans with Marc Green getting the other goal, Tremere Lindo and Kurt Harrison replied for Linby.
