Central Midlands Football League Round up: Glapwell keep up title challenge, while Belper United go second

It’s as you were at the top of the Black Dragon Badges North Division with four of the top five winning, while Harworth Colliery sat it out.

Phoenix opened a three point gap at the top, beating Dronfield Town reserves 3-1 at Brinsworth.

Glapwell finally managed some game time, keeping up their challenge with a 4-1 win at Bilsthorpe.

The home side took a 28th minute lead through Dominic Hammond, but Daniel Russell equalised almost immediately.

Bilsthorpe had their captain dismissed on the stroke of half-time, Glapwell taking full advantage in the second half, adding further goals from Josh Parfitt, Adam Barratt and Adam Kimberley.

Appleby Frodingham are still in contention after they got the better of Retford 3-1 at Brumby Hall.

Steve McCarron opened the scoring on 14 minutes, Nathan Watson doubling the advantage on the half hour.

Watson scored again in the second half before Paul Middleton reduced the arrears five minutes from the end.

Ollerton Town boosted their goal difference as they put 12 past struggling Welbeck Welfare at Elkesley Road.

Sam Stretton and Callum Atkinson both scored in the first nine minutes but Ollerton had to wait until the 45th minute for Lewis Bingham to score the third. The second half saw the visitors score at will, Bingham completing his hat trick, Kyle Ludlow also getting three, Kyle Clarkson bagging a pair while Jordan O’Callaghan and Sam Dockwray made it a round dozen.

With leaders Selston’s match being postponed, Hucknall Town had the opportunity to close the gap at the top of the Black Dragon Badges South Division. Visitors Clay Cross Town had other ideas however, coming away with a share of the points after a 1-1 draw.

Tomas Poole put the Millers ahead in the 66th minute, Hucknall having to wait until nine minutes from the end for Matt Brian’s equaliser.

Belper United move into second spot following a 5-0 defeat of basement side Southwell City.

Sam Vickers took over the mantle of leading scorer, his hat trick taking him to 22 for the season, Shaun Roulstone scoring the other two.

Fourth placed Sherwood Colliery were well beaten by an unpredictable Pinxton side who recovered from two defeats in the last week with an emphatic 4-0 win.

A Jake Vernon hat trick was the highlight for the visitors, Nathan Benger also finding the net.

Blidworth Welfare were 2-0 winners over Linby Colliery, goals from Matt Curzon and Charlie Taylor in the last 15 minutes seeing them through. Collingham have taken 14 points from the last 18, their latest victims being Hucknall Rolls who were beaten by a single goal from Jack Wilkinson. Mickleover RBL travelled to Keyworth United and closed the gap on their opponents with a conclusive 4-1 scoreline. Scores for the Legion were Jamie Sleigh with two, David Moon and Charlie Reinsford, with Alex Clarson replying for Keyworth.
