Central Midlands Football League round-up: Pinxton and Blidworth Welfare fly the flat in FA Vase

Pinxton pulled off a 1-0 win over Cradley Town, currently lying second in the Step 6 West Midlands Regional League.

Luke Walker scored the all-important goal for Pinxton.

Blidworth Welfare live to fight another day after a fighting 3-3 draw at East Midlands Counties outfit St Andrews.

They led 2-0 after half an hour, but were pegged back by half-time.

Blidworth took the lead with seven minutes of extra-time remaining only to see the home side force a replay with just two minutes to go.

Scorers for Blidworth were Tim Gregory, Gareth Curtis and Keenan Leeds. The sides meet again at Blidworth on Tuesday evening.

Hucknall Town bowed out of the competition, but were far from disgraced at Step 5 Coleshill Town as they went down 3-0.

The top three sides in the Black Dragon Badges North division all picked up maximum points.

Appleby Frodingham still top the division but left it late at Retford, with Paul Tait’s winner in a 3-2 victory coming just three minutes from the end. Retford led through a Will Tomlinson penalty and Sam Hutchinson. Frod’s other goals came from Kirk Shrimpton and Steven McCarron.

Glapwell blasted ten against struggling Dinnington Town to cement second place a point behind the leaders.

Josh Parfitt took his tally to 14 for the season with four goals. Daniel Russell added a hat-trick, Jake Ballinger scored two with Sam Bartram also on the scoresheet.

Thorne Colliery picked up their first win in eight games, beating Welbeck Welfare 6-1 at Moorends.

Glynn Powell (2), Kyle Palmer and Danny Bulman scored for Thorne, with the visitors contributing to their own downfall with two own goals.

Josh Fletcher scored at the right end for a consolation goal.

Friday night saw a season’s best attendance of 85 at Station Road to see Newark Town win 2-1 against Bilsthorpe.

Jordan Cummings gave Newark a ninth minute lead, before Nick Langford equalised on the half hour.

Despite having the majority of play in the second half, Town were restricted to one more goal scored by Arron Martin.

In a reduced Black Dragon Badges South division programme, Eastwood Community regained top spot, coming from behind to see off Mickleover RBL 4-1 at Coronation Park.

The Legion led through Daniel Minto, Matt Brian levelling before three goals in ten second half minutes from Dave Worger, Ross Marriott and Tim Adcock saw Eastwood safely home.

It was what might loosely be called a mixed week for Linby Colliery.

After their heavy defeat of Bulwell last Saturday, Linby saw the tables turned as they were overwhelmed 6-0 at Church Lane by Clay Cross Town.

The Millers scored three in each half, Josh Pickering and Joe Harris both scoring twice, Tomas Poole and Nathan Jessop also finding the net.

Guy Wilding scored all four of his side’s goals as Swanwick Pentrich Road inflicted a second successive home defeat on Sherwood Colliery, a result which lifts the Derbyshire side into fourth place.

Southwell City must have thought they were on the way to a precious point at Selston with the scores level ten minutes from time.

The visitors led with a 23rd minute goal from Calum Law, Steven Radzynski equalising ten minutes later.

The scores were level until the 81st minute, when sub Aaron Brady finally pierced the stubborn Southwell rearguard.

A minute later Carl Moore added another to put Selston third with games in hand over their rivals.

Hucknall Rolls extended their unbeaten league run to seven games with a 4-0 defeat of Holbrook St Michaels. Jack Allen scored twice, Chay Betteridge and Robbie Manners also on target.

Hucknall Town remain top of the YourFootballWorld.com reserve division following a 5-2 win at Watnall Road over Harworth Colliery.

Jarrod Davies and Aaron Evans got two apiece with Johnny Hamilton also scoring for Hucknall, while Harworth replied through Tom and Alex Hawkridge.

Heanor Town beat Pinxton 4-1. Scorers for Heanor were Jack Hawkins, Nathan Benger, Alex Brown and an own goal, Ryan Wilkinson with the Pinxton goal. Mickleover RBL defeated Sherwood Colliery 4-1.

In the Reserve League Cup, the last tie in the first round saw Swanwick beat Eastwood Community 3-1 thanks to two goals from Dave Robinson and one for Andy White.
