Carlisle v Stags game survives pitch inspection

Mansfield Town's game at high-flying Carlisle United has survived a lunchtime pitch inspection.

It would have been the first time Carlisle had lost a game to frost in six years after temperatures fell below -4C overnight, but a noon inspection saw the referee declare the Bruton Park surface playable.

Stags, who travelled north last night, already have to make the long haul up there again a week on Tuesday for a Checkatrade Trophy tie.

Stags’ home midweek game against Blackpool also survived a pitch inspection after heavy rain.

New boss Steve Evans is today looking for a third win on the bounce away to a Carlisle side who have only lost once all season.
