It follows a woeful start to the campaign which has seen Selston lose all nine of their MFL Premier Division matches.

He leaves following the 7-0 drubbing at Coventry Sphinx in midweek.

The Villagers were battered 12-0 by Long Eaton earlier in the season and sit bottom of the table with a minus 39 goal difference.

"I would like to thank everyone at the club for making myself and my family welcome from day one, and to the committee for their unwavering support in this difficult time both on and off the pitch,” Moore said.

“I will be forever grateful to this club, which is why this decision hurts more than ever.

"I have taken the decision to resign from my post as first team manager, a decision that I haven’t taken lightly, but after much consideration I feel that now is the right time for me to step aside and let a new voice lead this group of players and this club.

“I want to thank all the players for their hard work over the past 12 months and their attitude has been second to none.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed working with this group of players for the last 12 months and will continue to support them from the stands.

"Lastly I would like to thank the fans, and I will miss you all very much. I wish the club all the best whatever the future brings. Thank you all."

A club spokesman offered their thanks to Moore for his committment to the cause.

"We would like to thank Carl for all his hard work since taking the job on 12 months ago,” the statement read. “This is undoubtedly a very tough job given our resources and the level we play at.

"Carl and his family are an integral part in our club and will continue to be so, we thank them and looking forward to seeing them around.”

The striker took on the role on 31st January and was in his first full season in charge at the club.
